Privacy Notice

The Australian Society for Parasitology Inc. (ASP) is collecting the following information in order to:

  • Obtain information to sign you up to be an ASP member or to sign-up to ASP events (like Concepts in Parasitology).
  • Enable the ASP to keep accurate records of its members.
  • Enable the ASP to validate requests for ASP membership discount for Elsevier Open Access Publication fees.
  • Enable ASP members to contact each other.
  • Send ASP members information about the Annual General Meeting.
  • Send ASP members communication relevant to the Society including the latest Newsletter, information about Events for members, information about ASP Council business.
  • Obtain information as part of the ASPs Concepts in Parasitology course application process, with information submitted by the course applicant being solely be used for this purpose.

Your ASP Member profile details; Membership level; Title; First and Last names; Position; Organisation; Address; Phone; E-Mail; and your Picture if uploaded will be accessible to current members of the Australian Society for Parasitology Inc.

Your full records including the Member profile details listed above and in addition Member proposal information; and limited information about membership payment status will be accessible to the ASP Secretariat and ASP Secretary. The data collected is used for administration of the Australian Society for Parasitology Inc. and also for communication, providing services, and for marketing and promotions.

For people applying for ASP Concepts in Parasitology (CiP) Course your Name, Contact information, financial need, information you provide about your research, referee information, your uploaded CV will be accessible to the current ASP CiP course convenor(s). The data collected is used for administration of the ASP CiP course. If you are accepted onto the ASP CiP course then your Name, Contact information and financial need will be accessible to the ASP Executive Officer for processing of students attending ASP CiP.

Your data will be dealt with in accordance with the confidentiality requirements of the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld).

The information will not be disclosed to any other person or agency unless it is for a purpose stated above, the disclosure is authorised or required by law, or you have given ASP permission for the information to be disclosed.

Information Collection: From time-to-time the ASP will use tracking technologies via emails to track that all ASP members have been informed about the ASP Annual General Meeting and ASP Constitutional business. You will be automatically notified and will need to consent to this when a tracked email is sent from the ASP.

Data Protection and Security: The measures taken to safeguard user data from unauthorized access or breaches include encryption, secure servers, and access controls.

User Rights: All ASP members have the right to access, correct, or delete their personal data. Please contact secretary@parasite.org.au to exercise your User Rights.

Policy Updates: The privacy policy may change over time, when the privacy policy changes you will be notified by email.
